The influence of soft tissue artifacts on multi-segment foot kinematics

چکیده
Movement of skin markers with respect to their underlying bone (i.e. soft tissue artifacts (STAs)) might corrupt the accuracy marker-based movement analyses. This study aims quantify STAs in 3D for foot and effect on multi-segment kinematics as calculated by Oxford Rizzoli Foot Models (OFM, RFM). Fifteen subjects asymptomatic feet were seated a custom-made loading device computed tomography (CT) table, combined OFM RFM marker set right foot. One unloaded reference CT-scan neutral position was performed, followed 9 loaded CT-scans at different positions. The 3D-displacement STA) each coordinate system between scan other scans calculated. Subsequently, segment orientations joint angles from positions according definitions without STAs. differences degrees defined errors caused displacements. Markers lateral malleolus proximally posterior aspect calcaneus showed largest hindfoot-shank angle most affected extreme (40° plantar flexion) sagittal plane (mean: 6.7°, max: 11.8°) transverse 3.9°, 6.8°). that introduce clinically relevant kinematics. Moreover, it identified locations are STAs, suggesting use within models should be reconsidered.

The influence of semi-custom orthoses on multi- segment foot kinematics in males
The current investigation aimed to investigate the influence of semi-custom orthoses on multisegment foot kinematics and plantar fascia strain in recreational runners. Fifteen male runners ran at 4.0 m.s with and without orthotics. Multi-segment foot kinematics and plantar fascia strain were obtained using a 3D motion capture system. Differences between orthotic and no-orthotic conditions were ...
متن کاملThe effect of low-mobile foot posture on multi-segment medial foot model gait kinematics.
A number of in vitro, invasive in vivo, and non-invasive marker based multi-segment foot models (MSFMs) have reported significant motion in the articulations distal to the calcaneus during gait. Few studies, however, have applied a MSFM to the investigation of the effect of foot posture on gait kinematics. Differences in stance phase kinematics between participants with low-mobile (LMF) (n=11) ...

The effect of footwear on multi-segment foot kinematics during running
Background Footwear is intended to prevent lower extremity injuries caused by excessive foot-ground impacts and faulty mechanics. However, no clear relationship between shoe habits and injury risk has been established [1]. Many studies have examined barefoot versus shod running kinematics, but the results have been equivocal [2,3]. A factor in the inconsistent results could be the relationship ...
متن کاملThe Effects of Walking Speed on Adult Multi-segment Foot Kinematics
It has recently been shown that gait speed has an effect on multi-segment foot kinematics. To increase our understanding of these effects, it is critical to compare and develop a database of walking speed ranges. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the effects of walking speed on multi-segment foot kinematics. A 12-camera Vicon motion capture system was used to collect kinemat...
